The 240z was a case study in business school.
Turns out, the original production unit was too heavy and exacted an additional tax on the price of the car, completely destroying their market. There was a meeting called by management of every sub-section in the car, where they basically explained why they were there, what the problem was, and what everyone needed to do (remove weight while maintaining their design parameters.) They were clear that it didn't matter how much each area removed, just that they did their best to achieve the goal.
The study had numbers on weight removed from the front steering, back seat, engine, dashboard, back seats, etc. but in the end, they achieved their goal - and the car sold without the 'luxury' tax. (Probably enhanced its performance, too.) Held up as an example of cross-departmental cooperation, good management, etc.
